Getting to know you

In an attempt to get to know you, my readers and to introduce you to everyone else, I am putting you in the hot seat. If you are a follower (over on the left sidebar) you will be receiving an email from me soon. I love hearing what you have to say!

Today I want to introduce you to Stephanie over at http://mycountryhaven.blogspot.com

How long have you been married?
I have been married to my best friend and the love of my life for 15-1/2 years.

How many children do you have? ages?
We have 3 children:  Melia - age 14; Katie - age 11; Michael - age 7

Do you enjoy your country life?
Do I enjoy my country life?  Since we moved here 2 years ago, I have never been happier.  I love the land, my garden, all the trees, and being able to raise chickens.  We recently had some timber cut to open up some more pasture land, and we're looking forward to being able to rerun the fence lines and being able to raise a few head of cattle!    Our goal is to become as self sufficient as possible.

What is you best memory you have of your family?
Besides the births of each of my children, I guess I would have to say each Christmas.  It's our favorite time of year, not for the gifts but because of the sacrafice that Jesus made when he became flesh and then gave his life for our sins.  We take the time to remember how blessed we are.

What is your favorite family vacation?
Our favorite family vacation is vacationing in the Great Smoking Moutains.  We love camping.

What are some ways you practice frugality?
WOW!  That's a good question!  LOL  There are lots of ways that we practice frugality.  I hang our clothes to dry as much as possible, we now have chickens so we have plenty of eggs and meat  (yes, we slaughter some of chickens, mostly the extra roos) , and we do have a garden.
But, I would have to say the ways that I save the most money with are by using cloth napkins and towels in place of paper napkins and paper towels, and I make as much of our food from scratch as possible.  As we expand our garden, this will be even easier for me to do.  By making my own mixes and buying very little prepackaged foods, not only are we eating better but we eat for less!
Having a well stocked pantry is also a way to stay frugal.  I stock up during sales and try not to pay full price.  If I have to pay full price, I shop around for the cheapest price possible.
One other way (and it's a biggie!) is to plan a weekly menu.  This way I'm not trying to figure out what's for supper at 4 o'clock every evening.

How long have you been blogging?
I started blogging in February of 2009.

What is your reason for blogging?
I wanted a way to document our new life and my journey in frugality.  I'm not very good yet at getting it all documented in my blog, but I'm hoping to have more time to do just that in the future.

Can you leave us a link of your best post?
Wow!  That's a hard one!  I guess my best post to date would be  the one about the blessings of a well-stocked pantry.

Head over to Stephanie's blog and leave her some love! Thanks Stephanie!
