Who is the woman behind the blog? Everyone is different in real life than how they are perceived on their blog. So here is a brutally honest post that lets you take a peek into who I am. Oh goodness I hope don't lose any readers after this.
I am:
- blunt to a fault (seriously someone shut me up)
- opinionated (this one and the first one don't always mix well)
- very open about my life and past hardships
- painfully shy (which can be perceived as something very different)
- blessed
- insecure
- loved
- feisty (it's the Irish in me)
- driven
- insecure in my ability as a mother
- insecure in my ability as a wife, sister, daughter, daughter in law, sister in law, and friend
- loyal to those I love
- forgiven
- competitive not with games more like in life. (does that make sense)
- sooo stinkin' forgetful (I HATE this about myself....absolutely hate it. I need more fish oil)
- a survivor of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. (all of which happened in childhood)
- scared to love and let my guard down with anyone
- very guarded
- misunderstood
- protective
- 5'2...short
- sensitive
- missing my dear girl friends that moved away
Thank you for sharing all of that!
ReplyDeleteMonica, thank you for being so honest, I know some of those things are not easy to share. It is nice to know that I am not the only one who struggles with some of the issues you listed above.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the reason I was drawn to you in your blog is because we are similar in many ways.. I pray that you see all of me on my blog...
ReplyDeleteYour Bloggy Friend
Angie
Wow. That was very brave of you to list some of the harder points about you. You worry about losing friends but I think you made me like you more and I've only been following your blog a week.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being so open & honest. I liked you already, but I have a deeper respect for you now for your openness and humility. God Bless!
ReplyDeleteI can identify each of these you listed. Well, minus the 5'2" part. I'm 5'6 3/4".
ReplyDeleteThat's It! Lord make me more like YOU!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It is a pleasure to know you. I am the first 2 also.. can be a good thing and a bad thing :-)
You and I have many similarities (minus the irish and short part). I knew I liked you for some reason!
ReplyDeleteI think the first two- we could either have GREAT discussions, or GREAT debates...depending on which side we fell on. :)
You're awesome!
Also, make sure you're getting GOOD fish oil. Do you know how to do the test as to whether or not it is an active fish oil? Will be posting the information on my blog sooner or later. :)
Thanks for being so honest. Inspite of your faults, you exude Christ. And that is exactly what He desires. He specializes in the broken, wounded sinner. And for this, I am soooo thankful. Because that's me too!!
ReplyDeleteI toohave many of the insecurities that you face. This is after 3 children, 14years of marriage and almost 40 years on this planet. Honesty with yourself and trust in the lord are the best places for you to be.
ReplyDeleteluv your honesty...God has blessed you with so much.
ReplyDeleteHey Monica, stop by my blog! I was nominated for a little 10-year fun and tapped you to join in. Hope you have fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI think we'd be friends IRL :)
ReplyDeleteUm...did people even read this??? Monica, you are a wonderful soul and a sweet child of God. Thank you for being so transparent with us, your readers. Take care my friend and God Bless.
ReplyDeleteI hope Little Man is doing better now :-)
Beautiful pic, too (as always!)
Thanks for being so open and honest. Sometimes i feel that i should be that honest with myself to. have a great week!
ReplyDeletewhat a great post! i have one of these coming up soon.. an about me post. love learning more about you!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite post of yours.
ReplyDeleteWish I could hug you.
Monica,
ReplyDeleteBoy, do we have a lot of things in common. Some good and some not so good. But He who has been forgiven much loves much!! I know in my life, the Lord has taken my lemons and made lemonade and I know He has done the same for you. I love your honesty...if people don't appreciate transparency, then we don't need them as friends...How about that bluntness, lol...see, one of the things we have in common. Love ya girl and will see you on Saturday...we need to do lunch sometimes and visit.
I can't see why you would lose any readers because of admitting some of your "skeletons." I think most of your readers probably appreciate the honesty! :0)
ReplyDeleteLove the honesty... it's always nice to find blogs that really lay it out there!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Really that just made me like you more because it sounds like me minus the 5'2" and I would add perfectionist and I have fertility issues as well but have no children because apparently my dog and my husband don't count :)
