*The allergist appointment went really well. We learned a lot about eczema and ways to better treat it. If you have any tips please leave it in the comments. I'd love to hear them!
*Today will be a busy day of packing.
*We are flying out tomorrow to spend the fourth of July on the east coast with some friends.
*Little man has been on several plane rides but the last one didn't go so well. Praying he does a lot better than last time!
*I have a guest blogger coming next week that I am VERY excited about!
*I am hoping that I will have internet connection to update the blog while away.
*I think I may be the only person not into the Twilight movies. (nothing against those that are!)
*Thank you for being understanding yesterday with the blog hop. Thank you to those that participated in the Cohen day of silence!
*What are you and your family doing to celebrate the fourth of July?

Our youngest has severe eczema as well as several other skin issues - he is 2 1/2 and we give him a daily dose of singulair that has been a miracle worker. He is bathed in dove soap and we use CeraVe moisturizing cream - in the tub. He also has a RX for synalar - whick is a topical ointment that we apply to his afffected areas. We have been doing all of this since last August and his skin is finally under control. He does have flair ups from time to time but I have been able to manage the outbreaks. We also feel that he had some food allergies but are waiting to test until he is a little older. Good Luck!!
ReplyDeleteAmelia had really bad eczema until we switched our detergent and fabric softener to totally die & fragrance free. After we did that, it totally went away and fairly quickly!
ReplyDeleteHave a great 4th!
I just wanted to tell you that I am also not into the Twilight saga, so you don't have to feel alone!
ReplyDeleteI have horrible eczema on my arms..i would love to hear what the doctor told you!
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of twilight or any of the other movies either..
Monica- my oldest has really bad eczema- on.his.face. It was horrible. Remember my rantings on active fish oil? Made the biggest difference for him! HUGE DIFFERENCE! That, and we use Cetaphil body wash and lotion. That's it. Amen.
ReplyDeleteugh, my boys have had eczema since they were tiny. here are some things we use: clearly natural glycerine soap (http://www.clearlynaturalsoaps.com/), cetaphil unscented lotion, free & clear detergent (the target brand works really well for us), and hydrocortisone ointment (not the cream) on the itchy dry patches. good luck! :)

ReplyDeleteMy little man has eczema too! Changing to dye free purex detergent and not using dryer sheets helps. Dye free soaps/ and or DOVE.
ReplyDeleteI wrote about Twilight awhile back. I've never watched them... they look evil :-)
I couldn't care less about Twilight. :)
ReplyDeleteMy son has food allergies and bad eczema. Moisturizer several times daily is important. As our pediatrician says: dry skin is itchy skin. Eucerin is the one that a handful of dermatologists have told us is best. That or Aquaphor.
We use All Free & Clear detergent. And as for bathtime--we let our son play in the clean water as long as he wants (skin needs water to rehydrate) then we wash him and get him out immediately. Soap dries out the skin. Then within 3 minutes of getting out of the bath we moisturize him all over to seal in the moisture.
Hope that helps. :)
I'm not into the twilight movies, you're not alone! :-)
ReplyDeleteHave a safe trip, and have fun!
I'll be praying for you guys that your trip goes smoothly, especially the plane ride!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see who your guest blogger is- that's always fun. :)
I'm not into Twilight books or movies either. Just tweeted that the other day, ha!
For the fourth we're having a picnic at my aunt's house. Tonight we might go see fireworks. I am going to study up on how to get good pics. :)
Our youngest had ecezma really baby as an infant. The allergist prescribed a steroid ointment. I was not comfortable using it especially on him b/c it was all over his body.
ReplyDeleteCheck out California Baby...it is an all natural product line. They have an ecezma care line. You can order online(www.californiababy.com) or it is sold at Target. I used the Calendula Cream on his skin and it worked great.
Also, I am not a Twilight fan. I just don't get the obsession. :)
Have a great trip!
My husband and I are going to the rodeo and I'm taking some photos. Weather appears to be warm and overcast.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Twilight fan either and am cautious of movies right now. My daughter saw the latest Toy Story movie yesterday and loved it.
Have a great weekend and enjoy your trip!!
totally relate with you on the twilight movies.
ReplyDeleteOnce I got my son off of milk his ecezma disapered. (he can drink my 1 year olds raw milk without any problems)plus we use only cetaphil soap and scentless detergent and softner
hope that helps! Happy forth!
All three of my little girls have really sensitive skin...two of them have eczema patches most of the time. I am really into natural so I don't use much on them in the way of soaps or detergents. We just use dove soap mostly and I am trying natural lotions and ointments. Also use hydrocortizone sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI hope you all have a wonderful trip!!
Oh, and I'm not into the Twilight stuff either. I thought I was about the only one, but it looks like there are others actually. :-)
